The Long Island Railroad Song
I came across this link on the I Hate The LIRR page on Facebook. I couldn't resist singing along...but with me own lyrics. It goes a little like this...
Take a train to Mineola on the Long Island Line
You will find a seat with duct tape it will stick to your
behind
As you pass through Locust Valley or approaching Oyster Bay
You’ll get hit with signal problems and will inch along the
way
It’s the Long Island Railroad where we aim to please
And all our railway workers get disability for just a
sneeze.
The guard who clips your ticket wears a cap as smart as
paint
But if you need him for assistance you'll know just where he ain't
You will get from Massapequa to Jamaica in an hour
But you’ll be stuck outside the station cause your train has
now lost power
It enters every station with a cheery tink tink tink
And the bathrooms do provide you with the most unholy stink
When you reach Jamaica Station there are many railway lines
But your train was terminated there so you won’t make work
on time.
Go east to Ronkonkoma where the trees surround the track
But an unauthorized person was hit, so you won’t be going
back
People travel on the railroad maybe once or twice a day
And on both ends of their travel there’ll be multiple delays
It’s the Long Island Railroad where we serve with pride
Where we’ll jack up all the prices and take you for a ride.
Thank YOU...I'll be here all week...don't forget to tip your Conductors!
This definitely sounds a lot more accurate!!
ReplyDeleteThis needs to be the next recording project. I can work out the chords on guitar but need a female singer to emulate that jazz-wanna-be singer.
ReplyDeleteGood Luck. Let me know if I can be of any help.
